Agents Write the Code; Humans Still Hold the Loop

Boris Tane argued that software will improve itself, saying agents now write most software but almost none of the production signal flows back to them. Other writers this week pushed back on how autonomous agents are, and Anthropic published a report on unintended model actions.

01Software that fixes itself

Boris Tane wrote that agents can deploy apps and wire up observability, but that almost none of the resulting signal makes its way back to the agents. Cloudflare, meanwhile, added on-demand CPU and memory profiling with flamegraphs to Workers and Durable Objects. Miren's blog described ephemeral deploys for agentic code review as pull request volume rises.

Push notifications won’t stop

Every app has decided your attention is theirs to schedule. It isn’t.
